**- *Dan Church Aid (DCA), Malawi Office hereby invites suppliers to submit a
quotation for the following:
· System for data collection on mobile phones including
implementation and appropriate training with regards to this system.
· 30 mobile phones for use with this system
Background
The system for data collection and the mobile phones are for use by DCA
Malawi and Church and Society Programme (C&S) of CCAP Synod of Livingstonia
for their four year project: “Improving Women’s Socio-economic Status:
Integrating rights-based approaches and village savings and loans in Mzimba
District”. DCA and C&S will innovatively use software and mobile phones to
monitor the community-driven microfinance (VSL) project activities. This
would greatly improve project management as poor performance can be spotted
and followed up at a much earlier stage than by using paper-based data
collection. Mobile phones will transmit the collected data and give access
to data by project managers in Malawi and Denmark simultaneously. Moreover,
monitoring by cell phones will increase accountability and decrease the risk
of corruption as phones will provide GPS points for the data collected as
well as pictures of groups.
