Accessing ODK server through office LAN

Hi everyone,

Just have a quick one. My organization has two ODK servers for the two
programs it manages. Each program will upload their data to their
respective servers. Unfortunately, for some reason - we can access only one
of these ODK servers through the office LAN. The other just times out.

Has anyone ever encountered this? Could it be a router configuration
problem?

Please let me know?

Thank you,

Kind regards,
Ramadhan Swalleh

Ramadhan,

Assuming you can verify that the servers themselves are running and
loading ODK Aggregate (use the web browser on the local machine to
access 127.0.0.1 and see if that works), it's very likely your network
config.

Hi again,

I just noticed that the problem is actually only restricted to one of the
servers. It's as though this particular one has a problem and just has
extremely slow loading times when launched with Mozilla. The other one
loads fine and is OK when running on the same browser. The problematic one
however runs OK with Google Chrome.
I'm not sure what the problem is.

If anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Thanks!

If the set of submissions displayed on the initial submissions tab is very
wide (many columns, multiple-choice questions, and many attachments), vs.
the submissions on the other server (many fewer columns), then this could
account for the difference in initial load time.

The other question is whether these are all running the same version of ODK
Aggregate.

OK, so I was able to understand our infrastructure better.
Apparently, the problematic server is one that our office is hosting on a
desktop PC. The other one that runs fine is running through the cloud
hosted by a third party.
I'm so sorry about the confusion.

The problematic server is slow when running through Mozilla but works fine
when running with Google Chrome.

Any leads will greatly be appreciated.

If the difference is between Mozilla and Chrome, then it is probably not
worth tracking down.

You could look at the Javascript console of both browsers to see what is
happening and if there are any errors being reported.

We have very little custom Javascript in our application. Most is generated
by GWT, and we rely on that framework to manage performance and
compatibility across all the browsers. We are using GWT 2.6.1 (the latest
release of this software) in ODK Aggregate 1.4.4.
