Aggregating unfinalized forms

Hello all,

I recently started supporting a program country office. They had previously
deployed an ODK form on their own (not supported by me) to collect data.
However they left a "note" as "required" near the end of the survey (this
results in the enumerator not being able to progress beyond this point).
They proceeded by "saving the form" at this point, and starting a new form
for the next respondent (this was done for the duration of their data
collection). Since their deployment, the collected data has just been
sitting on their tablets, as they are unable to upload the unfinalized
forms.

I'm working with them to correct the various mistakes they made in
deploying this survey for future work they do, but the data they collected
would be of interest to the project (and to me as an external consultant).

Is there a method to aggregate unfinalized forms on tablets?

The only option I can conceive of to salvage their data is the use of brute
force. This would include correcting the error, and deploying a second form
(Form-B), and having staff function as "data entry" persons and transfer
responses from Form-A on tablet1 to Form-B on tablet 2. This is very
inefficient and introduces further data entry errors -- but is the only
option I can think of.

Appreciate any inputs/thoughts.

I believe you could pull the data into ODK Briefcase from the ODK Collect
devices and
then push the data from ODK Briefcase up to a server.

ODK Briefcase and ODK Aggregate do not validate the submitted data. That is
only done by ODK Collect.

So once you get the filled-in forms off the device, you should be able to
submit them via ODK Briefcase.

Thanks for this Mitch -- just circling back that this indeed did work as
you explained, I had originally thought that there was a validation step in
submitting to aggregate.

For others information, I pulled data from each device using briefcase,
then pushed to the server (in this instance it was actually a hosted on
kobo, but worked just fine).
