I would say the device that works best for you and which will do the job. I
am working on a project and because of the nature of the area we are
working in (tropics) we are using the *Samsung GT-S5690L Galaxy Xcover
Unlocked Quad-Band 3G GSM Phone with Android OS, 3.15MP Camera, Wi-Fi and
GPS - US Warranty -
Black/Orangehttp://www.amazon.com/Samsung-GT-S5690L-Unlocked-Quad-Band-Android/dp/B00766BFMI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nT1?ie=UTF8&colid=1EM9JWSYJZXS3&coliid=I181YFBYSEHRSR

  • it does exactly what we need. So I guess it's a matter of browsing around
and looking at the various options.

You might find this helpful:

Cheers, Chris.

Hi Chris,
I would like to use the customized version of breifcase that is noted on
the rough guide. I had trouble opening the precompiled version and I am not
sure how to work with the source code and turn it into a usable program.
Suggestions?

I am working with ODK and breifcase in Haiti and I am interested in using your customized version of breifcase because I have also been having trouble with the export of repeated groups. How might I go
about getting the version of breifcase you talk about in your rough guide? I tried to download the precompiled version and I got an invalid breifcase directory error message. I'm not sure how to go from
source code to program. i created a clone and it is in the repository. Where do i go from here?

Assuming you downloaded our Briefcase from here:

http://code.google.com/r/chris-briefcase/source/checkout

You should install Maven. You don't say what platform you're using, but if
it's a Debian-derived Unix, you should be able to do "apt-get install
maven2" to install it.

Then go into the chris-briefcase directory and run "mvn package", and that
should download and cache a whole host of dependencies, and eventually
build you a new org.opendatakit.briefcase-*.jar file, which you can run
with "java -jar" instead of the standard briefcase.

Alternatively, if you have Eclipse installed and the customised Briefcase
sources imported as an Eclipse project, then you should be able to follow
these instructions:
http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/ODKBriefcase#Source

Cheers, Chris.

Related to devices,
I've been waiting for the waterproof drop-proof 7" tablet that was shown at
CES last January to actually become reality. It has. It probably has a
heafty price tag, but looks like it could sustain a hurricane. For non
french readers, just pop the URL into google translation. If anyone picks
one up, please tell us your experience.
