Automatically get date-time without user inout

Hi again

I want to capture date-time at intervals during the survey with a
resolution of a second or better.

I see start and end as type options. But I don't see a means of
'silently' capturing time during the collection process.

I tried

type = calculate
name = event_DateTime
calculation = format-date (now(), '%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S')

That returns an event_DateTime value of 6/25/2016 12:00:00 AM. So my
attempt at formatting is not working and more importantly, time is not
being returned.

Any ideas how to do this better?

(It would be great if date-time could be obtained from GPS - but I don't
see that option)

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

There is no easy way to capture time intervals in the stock tools.
This is a long-standing need, but no one has stepped forward to build
it. If this is an important feature for you, perhaps your organization can
fund the development?

One alternative is to use the UI logging feature.

Thanks for that.

I suppose we could consider funding the development, I can imagine that
others could use it which would be nice. Any ideas how I might go about
doing that and what he time-scales and costs would be?
