Call external app with button

Hi,

I would like to create a select_one question, where next to the radio buttons, there is a button HELP, and if you press it, the browser is called with a link to a website. Is this doable with current widgets in odk 1.x?

Thanks,
Kristof

No.

ODK Collect is designed for operation with intermittent data connectivity;
dynamic web help is not appropriate for this use case, so the available
widgets do not allow for this.

The best you can do would be to write an external widget that opens a
browser with a given link.

The resulting button would appear above or below your question (only
vertical layout is possible)

··· --------------- The new ODK 2.0 tool, ODK Survey, directly supports this, but it is not yet released.

If you make a string prompt with appearance="url", it will show a
button that on press will load whatever is saved as an answer in the
browser.
