Data transfer

Hi,

Background:
We are creating ODK forms (for the first time) for data collection in
Kenya. We will be using Samsung 2 (7.0) tablets without internet
connection. Our plan is to have data manually (again, without internet)
transferred from several tablets to one laptop each night. Once or twice a
week (when the supervisor can access the internet), s/he will zip and send
the forms from the laptop via LeapFile to an analyst in the US. The analyst
will then use Aggregate or Briefcase to begin the process of analyzing the
data.

Concerns:

  1. Our office in Kenya is concerned that the tablets and/or ODK software
will not sync with their laptops. I am still waiting on the specs of their
laptops but apparently they had a lot of trouble recently when trying to
sync tablets programmed with Pendragon. Are there certain requirements that
laptops need in order to sync and store ODK forms/data from tablets? If so,
what are those? And, are there any other issues related to the process of
manually transferring data from tablets to laptops that I should be aware
    of?

  2. When the data files are then zipped and sent via LeapFile, are there any
issues there that I should be aware of?

  3. Because I haven't used ODK before, is there a way that we can determine
whether Aggregate or Briefcase is the best option for us to pool and begin
analyzing data? We will likely analyze the data using STATA.

Any help is much appreciated!

The key clarification on this seems to be the question about STATA.

Please do not re-ask questions.

It is extremely annoying to the 995 members on this list...
