Uploading from my ODK Collect to Aggregate fails and doesn't tell me
why.
Is there anyway to determine why a submission failed?
How do I do this: "use ODK Collect 1.1.6 (or greater) configured with
user logins enabled" ?
What I've tried:
I put the phone's email in Aggregate.
I've set the password in OdkAggregate and then manually set the
preference in Collect to be the right password.
What versions I am using:
I have Aggregate 1.0 alpha 6 installed
I have a modified version of the collect code from about 3/30/2011
Collect 1.1.6 with authentication is not yet all there. For now, you need
to allow anonymous submissions (the 1.1.5 behavior).
I am working on authentication now, and hope to have an extremely crude
preliminary check-in of that code by late Monday.

Collect 1.1.6 now supports authentication. I made a few changes to
Aggregate 1.0 to make it forward/backward compatible.
You'll want to update your Aggregate 1.0 server, then give 1.1.6 a try.
Note that you can now configure an Aggregate 1.0 instance to require both
authentication and https communications to/from the phone. I've tested this
on Google AppEngine deployments with 1.1.6 and the v1_0 branch of Aggregate
1.0, and it works. For a Tomcat deployment, it requires an SSL certificate
on the server that can be validated against the trusted root certificates on
the phone, so you would need a valid Verisign certificate; otherwise,
Collect will reject the connection attempt.
