Decimal Point

I'm testing a survey and have noticed that I can enter non-integer (i.e.
1.3, 2.5, 10.7 etc ) values my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S3). But I
cannot enter non-integer values on a Samsung Tablet (Galaxy Tab 3) on the
same survey. Both devices are running the same version of ODK Collect,
1.4.3. Has anyone encountered this problem before ?

Your insights are appreciated.

Musyoka,

Your best bet for help is to attach a one question form that has the
problem. Also, what versions of Android (Settings -> About -> Android
version) are you using?

I have seen this happen as well between different devices. I eventually resorted to using a sting and constraining the field.

Yaw,

Sorry the delay in getting back to you. I'm running Android 4.1.2 on the
tablet and 4.4.2 on my phone.

I'll try what you suggest and get back to you.

Thank you.

Bashir,

Thank you for contributing.

Do you mean treat the floating point (e.g. 1,7, 3,6. 105...) as a string ?

Hi

Yes correct but the downside is that the enumerator would have to select
the numeric keypad., However it's not a fix but a work around and mitch
pointed out correctly that it would be best to resolve if it is a bug and
not work around it. So I would suggest working with the team to try and
remove it.
