Device standard fields showing same information for each submission

Hi all

We have been looking at a recent data set and seem to be missing data
submissions - we have been looking to see which of the 32 phones we have in
the field may not be submitting data and we have noticed the data in the
standard device fields such as

deviceid simserial phonenumber subscriberid summary-intro

are showing the same information for each individual submission - see below

3.58398E+14 8.9592E+19 null 7.38002E+14 null

so we cant then see which phone is submitting which data

any ideas on what may be the problem

Thanks

Jon

If you are looking at the data in a spreadsheet program, I bet you
need to make that column wider or format it as text.

Thanks for the replies and this solution of changing the column formatting
to number work for most of the columns

but the simserial field is still showing as one value 89592002000009500000
for all submissions, where as in appspot i can see the unique values

are you suggesting there is a way i can define this field type in the ODK
form

Also i dont seem to be able to collect the sim phone number at all - the
field is blank

any thoughts

Thanks

Jon

Yes, the device ID is about 30 digits long. It should be defined as a
string in your form and the import into Excel is likely treating it as a
number; during the import process, you should be able to specify that these
columns are string values.

The Sim needs to be loaded into Excel as a string column. You might be able
to edit the CSV and add a leading "A" or something to get it to be loaded
in appropriately. It is clearly truncating it.

The reporting of the phone number is tricky. I have seen Android developer
Q&A that the phone number assigned to a device may or may not be accessible
depending upon the network carrier. I got the sense that it was best to not
expect it to be available.

Thanks Micth. Working on the same project with Jon. It might also come down
to the model of the phones or possibly internet phone settings that might
be hiding the phone number.

Again, thanks.
Rox.
