I'm trying using an Android device and have created my own form just using
.xml. I downloaded ODK Briefcase and I'm using the GUI to try to access the
filled out forms I've pulled off the device now, but when I try to choose
the ODK Directory from which I wish to pull my data, I get this message:
"Directory appears to be nested within an enclosing ODK Briefcase Storage
area". This is the ODK Briefcase Storage directory that was created when I
assigned the ODK Briefcase Storage Location.
I'm a lone researcher who just wants to be able to get my forms data in
aggregate onto my hard drive. I don't want to deploy any servers, I'm just
copying and pasting the ODK folder from my device to my hard drive. Any
advice is would be very welcome.
ODK Briefcase uses a folder named "ODK Briefcase Storage" to store its data.
When use ODK Briefcase to pull forms from an ODK Collect directory that you
have zipped and moved to your system, the software automatically searches
up the nested directories to ensure that none of them are named "ODK
Briefcase Storage" -- that the folder you are trying to pull from is not
itself within a storage area that ODK Briefcase is using.
This is intended to prevent data corruption of the storage area used by ODK
Briefcase.
Make sure that you are not placing ANYTHING inside the "ODK Briefcase
Storage" directory.
