[Error] Using our form in ODK Tables

Hi

I was experimenting with ODK Tables , and was trying to use my own form
with the table . I edited the table properties -> Edit Default form -> and
changed the form id and root element corresponding to my form (present in
forms folder of ODK).

However , this doesn't work and application crashes . On the other hand ,
when we check the option "Use Generated Forms ", automatically generated
forms are working fine.

It would be great if you could help me debug this.

Thanks

Hi

I figured out that my form with tables was not working since the number of
fields in my form did not match with the number of fields in the table.
When I removed extra fields from my form , it started working with the
table.

So now the question remains , is it possible that we use our form with
tables , where the form might have additional fields than the table itself.

Thanks

Not with ODK Collect.

With ODK Survey, there will be something like a website's 'session
variables' which are retained for the duration of your use of a form. Once
you save or exit the form, those values are lost.
Exact details are still in flux (I am coding this next week...).

(The next release of ODK Tables will work with ODK Collect and ODK Survey).

There have been extensive changes to ODK Survey since the public alpha. The
next public release of that tool will have this new feature.

··· ----------------

Keep in mind that nearly all questions should have their values saved.
Doing this enables forms (table rows) to be re-opened and edited, something
that is a fundamental feature of ODK Tables.
The session variable feature of ODK Survey is possible because ODK Survey
forms are not executed in a fixed sequential manner, enabling entire
sections of the form to be skipped upon re-opening.
