Exporting an downloading data from the server

I have been trying to export stored data and download it in CSV for
over 6 weeks now. I often get an error message "HTTP Error 500
(Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while
the server was attempting to fulfill the request". I have managed to
get through a couple of times but each time for less than 5 minutes
during which I am not able to generate the CSV file. Someone please
advise.

Thank you.

What version of Aggregate are you using? If you are not using the
latest version (1.0.6), you should upgrade.

Also, have you tried using ODK Briefcase? It will likely be a better
tool for exporting all your data.

Many thanks, this was very useful. Please help me understand, how long is an instance hour or what does it depend on? I have all the data already on the server and just need to download it and upgrade the Aggregate for now. What would be a practical (and economical) budget for me? Lastly, which other payment options are available to me besides online payment?

Much appreciated,

Lucy

Lucy,

http://opendatakit.org/use/aggregate/deployment-planning/ has
information on billing and on estimating cost.

I don't think you need to link with a premier account. As Waylon
described in the earlier email, you need to..

  1. Sign in to the Administration Console at
https://appengine.google.com. Google Apps users can sign in at
    https://appengine.google.com/a/your_domain.com.
  2. Select the application for which you would like to purchase resources
  3. Click Billing Settings from the left menu.
  4. Click Enable Billing and follow the steps in Setting a Daily Budget.

Then you can use Google Checkout to complete the purchase. Most
popular credit cards are accepted. Other types of payments, such as
checks, money orders, and direct bank account debit, aren't currently
accepted.

One more thing... the person setting up the billing must have the
permissions of an owner (developers cannot enable billing).
