Hi there,
I am exporting about 3700 instances from ODK Briefcase with images. I'm
almost done but I have about 800 or so that I want to select from the batch
of images based on the selection I've made out of the csv file. Is there a
way to match the images to the instances I've selected?
Thanks so much for your help,
-Brett
Hi Brett,
I've done a lot of work with photos collected using ODK deployments, and
have found the following solution works well to sort them categorically
and/or geographically.
In short you rename all the image files using meta data from the data. So
image 198238938922.jpg can be renamed to Area1_Subarea2_Type2.jpg (or
whatever makes the most sense for sorting/analysis). This is accomplished
through group renaming of the photos, where photos take a unique name
concatenated from key meta data from the data set. This link
https://benholland.me/tutorials/2011/11/11/rename-multiple-files-using-excel-in-windows.html provides
a fairly clear guide. This assumes you download the data and photos via ODK
briefcase, accessing the data from aggregate only provides links (useful in
google fusion tables, but not offline).
I also recommend google fusion tables if you are capturing GPS data and the
photos you are collecting have any spacial relevance to one-another or to
geographic areas.
Good luck.
