places integration with the Foursquare POI database could be really cool.

Am I correct to assume that if we developed a foursquare widget (similar to
the barcode reader) it would be possible to integrate with ODK collect?

Yes, that would be straightforward. There is a simple sample app that
shows how to connect a basic app to ODK. They (ODK and the app) just have
to agree on using the same "intent" identifier.

We'd be happy to host the source for such a widget in the Android Extras
tree (though we would exclude proprietary libraries from that tree and add
info in a readme as to how to obtain them).
