I pulled my forms from Formhub on the ODK Collect app on Android devices.
I noticed when choosing "Other" as an option, the new field to enter the
"specify" data won't come up automatically on the screen.
As a temporary solution, I discovered that if I go backward or forward
between screens and come back to the original one, then the optional field
appears.
Any suggestion on how to solve this issue will be greatly appreciated.
This sounds like an Enketo widget type that is not supported in ODK Collect.
Dependencies between questions are not respected when those questions are
displayed on the same screen.
I suspect the 'select-one-with-other' widget type emits a field-list group
with two questions in it, the select-one question, and the Other textbox.
Because the relevant condition for the Other checkbox is dependent on the
choice of the select-one, this will not work properly in ODK Collect.
This widget undoubtedly works correctly in Enketo.
The solution is to not use this feature but explicitly write these as two
separate questions.

Mitch, thank you so much for your prompt response.
I will try Enketo to see how I can make it work.
