Has anyone used ODK for participant-facing data collection?

Hi, all. Has anyone had experience with research participants enter their own data into an ODK form instead of using a data collector who interviews the participant and enters the data per the participant's response?

Would welcome any guidance for or against this approach.

Welcome to the ODK forum, @FHI_360_PROM! We're glad you're here. When you get a chance, please introduce yourself on this forum thread. I'd also encourage you to add a picture as your avatar because it helps build community!

This is certainly possible. When authoring your survey you can include all sorts of survey logic, require questions be answered, and add descriptive hint text to questions. Have you looked at the documentation on ODK Form Design?

It will be easier if you have a device that is already set up that you can hand to the participants, as installing Collect and getting it configured might be more effort than they are willing to do. However, you can also share public access web links.

Do you have specific concerns about the process, or about specific data fields you want to collect?
