How to represent Line number in the(begin repeat) set of questions

My requirement :

LINE NO. (A1) NAME OF CHILD (A2)

Line no: Name of the child
1 ___________________
2 ___________________
3 ___________________
4 ___________________

I want to collect name of the child 'n' number of time, but i don't want collect the Line no.
So when i collect the child name
an auto generated field is use to get Line no.

Can some please help me to get this solution...

Hi Kanhu,

If you're using the latest XLSForm and Collect, I believe that you can have
a calculate field within the repeat group with the following calculation
expression:

position(..)

That will then contain the index number of the current repeat instance.
Give that a try.
