Images

Hello people
is there a way I can uniquely name images
Am collecting data and one of the variables required is a photo, a, hoping
to collect over 3000 forms over years, by the end of the survey it might be
hard to disctnclty tell which photo is for which form though ODK gives
names, remember these are funny file names
is there a way to tell ODK to to name a photo after a form name just like
in instance ID.

Thanx

Ayoub,

Early this year I complete a survey with 2000+ photos and this worked very
well for me to sort them categorically and/or geographically. The
photo/audio/video image name is determined by the device. To my knowledge
you can not change this. It is relativity easy to address in the analysis
stage. This is accomplished through group renaming of the photos, where
photos take a unique name concatenated from key meta data from the data
set. This link
https://benholland.me/tutorials/2011/11/11/rename-multiple-files-using-excel-in-windows.html provides
a fairly clear guide. This assumes you download the data and photos via ODK
briefcase, accessing the data from aggregate only provides links (useful in
google fusion tables, but not offline). I also recommend google fusion
tables if you are capturing GPS data and the photos you are collecting have
any spacial relevance to one-another or to geographic areas.

Good luck.
