Line above Option choices in latest ODK version

Hi to all. I a have installed ODK 1.4.10 (1061). i think this is the latest
version. My problem is why does it give me line for typing where i have
select options say Options boxes (select one) and select multiple. Anybody
with idea why this is happening how can i do a way with this line and only
have options as in previous version

If you are using Excel spreadsheets to construct your survey, if the tool
does not recognize the content of the "type" column in the survey sheet, it
will default to a string widget.

Double-check what you entered into that column. See the sample xlsx file
for an example
https://opendatakit.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/sample_xlsform.xls

Perhaps in the survey tab, type column, you have included 'or_other'? As in select_one [choices list name] or_other
Regards
Vijay

Thanks. Ok i am using excel to construct survey. I use "select_one
choice_name" for option choices and "select_multiple choice_name" for
multiple choices. Does it mean that this latest version does not
support/understand these two types? Interesting part is that all the
choices are displayed below the line.

No. Compare your excel workbook with the example form.

The example also uses select_one and select_multiple.
Generate an XML form definition file from it and verify that those work on
your device.

It is unclear what you mean by "line". If you are seeing the list of
choices, and that is all, then everything is OK. The selection choices are
rendered with a *thin horizontal line *between each choice. This how it has
ALWAYS been. The sample form works correctly.

If, however, you are not seeing the set of selection choices, but instead
see a text input field where you can enter any value, then yes, this is a
problem -- the select_one type in your XLS file is not being recognized as
a select one and is being defaulted to a free-form text input field
(string) data type.

In that case, I suspect there is an errant glyph in the writing of the
"select_one..." field type column.
You might be able to find the problem by copying the field from the sample
form into your form.

Note that different languages / character sets may have similar-looking
characters, but the software expects these characters to be from the Latin
character set. e.g.,

U+0063 c 63 c c LATIN SMALL LETTER C

U+0441 с d1 81 с с CYRILLIC SMALL LETTER ES

Hi @Mitch_S, this question is a bit off this topic, but can the thin horizontal line between each choice be customized? For example, if I want to make it thicker or change its color.
Thank you.

No, it's not possible to do that on a form level. You would need to have your own fork of ODK Collect and implement changes in the code.

I am willing to make any changes in the code, if possible. From what i know, this is a part of the parsed XML form, so I am not sure how to go about it.
