Major problem - unable to install ODK Aggregate

Hi!

Please help me! I have been trying to install ODK Aggregate for a week.
It seems to work and then, when I run the program, it shows an error
message. I have downloaded Java + created a google project.

Is anyone able to help me ?

Best regards,

Maude

Hi Maude,

It sounds like you don't have Java JRE, but not the Java JDK
installed. You can download it from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html.

The JRE allows you to double-click to open jars from the Finder and
run Java in the browser, but it does not come with the Java binary
installed in where most applications (like the Aggregate installer)
expect to find it. To get that Java binary, you must install the JDK.

This is a recent and annoying change in macOS. I don't know who is to
blame, but hopefully installing the JDK will get you up and running.

Thanks,

Yaw

Hi Yaw,

You saved my life!

It was in deed the problem! Everything is now working well except I don't
seem to be able to create questions that are linked to others using
relevance in the ODK Build form.

As shown on the tutorial, I write something like: /data/paiement_loyer_1 =
'5' and it does not work. It shows this message : « Because this control is
within a single-screen group (field list), any expressions that reference
other fields in the same group will not work.

I am not good enough to go directly in the XML.

Thanks (again),

Maude

Hi Maude,

I'm glad I could help with the JDK/JRE issue! We are working on
improving our documentation so others don't get caught on this.

If you have questions that should appear or not based on answers to
earlier questions, those questions cannot appear on the same screen
("field-list" group), they must appear on a subsequent screen. This is
what Build is warning you about.

Thanks,

Yaw
