Missing XML in finalised forms

I have 6 finalized forms from the same form template on my device (Xperia Z
Ultra, android 4.2.2).
3 taken at one site, 3 at other.
The 3 at 'one site' have the xml finalised form in all instances.
The 3 at 'other' have missing finalized xml files in most circumstances...
The data is present in the saved form when reviewed on the device and the
xml shows in the device's file explorer. These xml files do not show on the
computer via USB. Saving the folder to the computer I get the photographs
but not the xml (the folders from 'one site' download with XML and
photographs).
I have gone through all finalised forms and saved again. The 'Send
Finalized Form' has (6) forms to upload.
I have not tried uploading so I do not know if the xml files will show in
aggregate yet. Having some problems but may figure that out yet.

Sort of solved. Uploaded to aggregate and all data was present. The
previously mentioned xml's still do not show and are not accessible via usb.

Fantastic. Thanks Mitch. At the moment I only need to download finalised
forms locally. I work in some remote areas with no data or wifi access.
With great respect and gratitude for ODK, sometimes a local download with
aggregate seems...complicated.

This is an issue with the badly broken USB file sharing mechanism on 4.x
devices.

Some things to try:

(1) with your device disconnected from your computer, try power cycling the
device. Then connect to your computer.

(2) if that is too annoying, my new preferred mechanism to get data off the
device is now to use OI File Manager to zip (compress) a directory I want
to move to the computer, then use the adb program available via the Android
SDK to 'adb pull' that file to my computer. For pushing, it is somewhat
easier, as you can zip up a file on your computer, place it on your phone
device, and it generally appears and is visible within OI File Manager (you
need to move out of the directory then back into it to get the UI to
refresh). From there, I then unzip and move the directory to wherever it
needs to go.

If you have e-mail set up locally, you can also send the files as an e-mail
attachment to yourself (via OI File Manager). For me, that is my new
favorite way of getting files off of 4.x devices.
