Not able to download form

Hi

I've set up a local instance of ODKAggregate on my machine v.1.0.5 using
Tomcat 6.0.35.
Everything is fine till the point I've created a user with Data Collect
permissions and uploaded a questionnaire and published it. Observations:

  1. With anonymous access - I'm able to download form and fill it, but not
able to send it to server (Send finalized form). Error: Unexpected
redirection attempt to a different host: http:///ODKAggregate/submission

  2. With a user who has rights as a Data Collector - I'm not even able to
download the form. Error: Unauthorized (401) at http:///ODKAggregate/

In both the cases, i'm able to see the form listed.

Please help.

Regards,
AJ

Please install ODK Aggregate v1.0.4 Production; this is apparently an issue
with the authentication changes in the 1.0.5 Release Candidate; it will be
fixed in 1.0.6 Production.

just cross check that all mandatory/required fields are filled properly or
form is forcely saved before end.

NOTE: this question is more appropriate for the opendatakit@ list.

Open a browser on your phone/tablet and browse to your ODK Aggregate
installation.

Whatever the URL is up to the /Aggregate.html is the URL you should enter
in ODK Collect.

Also, make sure the ODK Collect is set to use the "ODK Aggregate" server
protocol. This will supply the expected suffixes to the server URL.

First, set your ODK Aggregate to forbid Anonymous access.

Then please verify that you can download and upload forms using a username
and password configured with Data Collector privileges.

Once that works, can you then submit forms to Aggregate?

And then, go to Settings / Applications / Manage Applications and Force
Close ODK Collect.

Now change ODK Aggregate to allow anonymous access (what anonymous access
are you allowing??)

Now run ODK Collect, and what issue are you experiencing?

Please open an issue for this, and I'll follow up in the correspondence of
the issue. Open issues here:

Exactly. That is why the instructions say to configure your network to
assign your server a static IP address -- so it never changes. And to work
up your router tree so that you can always identify that server and never
worry about DHCP changing the IP address. Once your server is known by a
static IP address, you can then associate that with a DNS name, either
using your own DNS server or using a DynamicDNS server.

You may have skipped this step:

and, in particular, this advice within that section:

If you decide to not make your server visible on the internet, you should
still assign your server a static IP address as detailed below, but do
notset up port forwarding.

Hi Mitch,

Thanks for your technical assistance. I followed the instructions and was
able to download and submit forms. Although, for future implementers of
ODK, using an IP address in ODK Collect URL section can cause problems if
the LAN is using DHCP protocol (dynamic IP address allocation), since it
changes the IP address of the Aggregate server. using DNS is preferable.

I guess I wouldn't need to open an issue now.
