ODK 2.0 Tools Suite -- coordinated Alpha/Beta Releases are now available for download

A combined release of a number of ODK 2.0 tools is now available for
download.

The "killer app" for the ODK Survey tool is the ability to produce survey
forms with arbitrary layouts like this:

This form is the "Grid Screen Form" in our ODK Survey v2.0 Beta-2 Demo
Files.zip

The tools being released are:

  • ODK ApplicationDesigner v2.0 Alpha-1 -- a desktop tool for creating
and customizing your forms and ODK Tables applications.
  • ODK Survey v2.0 Beta-2 -- the HTML and Javascript follow-on to ODK
Collect. Download and install the ODK Survey v2.0 Beta-2 Demo Files to see
the capabilities of this tool, including the Grid Screen Form, above.
  • ODK Tables v2.0 Alpha-2 -- data visualization and curation on your
Android device. Moving the viewing of data onto your handheld device and
out of the cloud. Download and install the ODK Tables v2.0 Alpha-2 Demo
Files to see the capabilities of this tool.
  • ODK Aggregate with Tables Extensions Alpha-1 -- (ODK Aggregate
1.4.2) synchronization functionality for sharing data across collaborating
    Android devices.

The various tools are described here: http://opendatakit.org/use/2_0_tools/

Notes:

  • *Alpha *software does not have all features, and is more likely to
have significant reductions or additions of functionality.
  • *Beta *software does not have all features, but is less likely to have
significant reductions or alterations in functionality.
  • Alpha and Beta releases can be used at their current set of
capabilities, but the ODK core team cannot provide support for deployments
using them or guarantee a migration path into future releases.
  • Release Candidate software does not have support for deployments,
but the ODK core team does guarantee a migration path (possibly with many
tedious manual steps) into future releases.

Thanks ODK Core for your great efforts!
I tried ODK Survey Beta2 last night, this time it worked with KitKat on
Nexus 7 (4G), but it will crash when I submitted finalized forms. I will
reproduce the error with error reports so that you have more information to
trace the bug.
Best,
Trung.

Cheers to the ODK team for reaching this important milestone. I'm looking
forward to playing with this (hopefully, over the weekend) and to the final
ODK 2.0.

Woah this is exciting. I haven't checked back in a little while having been busy with other things but will for sure look into this some more.

Keep up the good work guys!

Francis

Thanks. I will work on this. It should reset every 24 hours until I get it
rehosted on AWS.

Google Drive is just not up to the task.
