ODK Aggregate 1.4.1 with Enketo Webforms integration is now available for download

ODK Aggregate 1.4.1 is now available for download:
http://opendatakit.org/downloads/ http://opendatakit.org/downloads/

The ODK Aggregate VM (maintained by Nafundi) will be updated next week.

Our http://opendatakit.appspot.com site now has Enketo Webforms enabled.
Click on the "Enketo Webform" button at the top of the submissions page to
open a webform to enter submissions online.

See the release notes for details:

http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AggregateReleaseNotes

Highlights:

  1. Enketo https://enketo.org/ Webforms integration. You can now use
Enketo's browser-based Webforms to fill-in and publish submissions directly
into ODK Aggregate. This feature was developed and donated by SDRC
    Indiahttp://sdrc.co.in/.
To enable Enketo integration, go to the Site Admin / Preferences tab and
    click on Enketo API Configuration.
  2. fix the Z-ALPHA JSON publisher and the JSON File export to emit an
array of zero or more objects, one object per submission, with proper
treatment of embedded quotes, no missing comma, etc. Confirmed that the
    output passes JSLint.
  3. fix the CVS File export functionality to double-up all occurrences of
double-quotes in a field before surrounding that field with double quotes
(per RFC 4180). This should correct problems with imports into spreadsheets.
  4. clean up date and time handling in REDCap publisher and enforce GMT
time zone interpretation when rendering date and time strings.

Great! Thanks Mitch and SDRC for working on the Enketo integration.

It's good timing too as Enketo.org has just launched a free plan optionhttp://blog.enketo.org/plan-prices-reduced/
!

Cheers,
Martijn

Yaw,

I have the VM up and running (on my laptop) Works great thank you for the
hard work.......

My question is if this is not hosted in a .com environment is this still
going to work? I can connect to my aggregate server while on my network
but have not exposed it to the internet as of yet. I do have another
server that I could do this with some address/port forwarding but would
still have the question as it would still be
a...........{IPaddress}:8080\aggregate address.

A beginners question: I have Aggregate 1.4 running on Google's App Engine. How do I upgrade to Aggregate 1.4.1 ? The release note states that this upgrade should be "seamless", so that's good  But how exactly do I do it?

Thanks!

And as promised, the ODK Aggregate VM has been updated to 1.4.1. If
you want to try out the new changes without messing with your existing
Aggregate install, the VM makes that very easy. Download it
http://gum.co/odk-aggregate-vm.

Thanks,

Yaw

Hi John,

Yes to integrate the VM with Enketo, the VM would have to be accessible on
a public url (could be just ip address or ip addres:port). Another user
used https://ngrok.com/ to do this successfully.

If you use a non-standard port, make sure to add this port to the server
URL in your enketo.org account (http://yourdomain.com:8080 e.g).

Cheers,
Martijn

First, please only send questions to ONE list.

To upgrade:

Run the installer, answering all the questions EXACTLY the same as on your
first install.
Then deploy to AppEngine.

If you alter the instance name of your server, all your passwords will need
to be reset. The server stores a calculated value for the passwords that is
a combination of the actual password and this instance name string. A
single character will effectively garble all passwords.

Hi Martijn,

I try to use a non-standard port (85) and add it to the server URL in my enketo.org account (eg. http://mydomain.com:85), it shows an error message that says:

"Not a valid Server URL format"

If I try to use port 8080 it works, others don't.

Do you think this can be fix?

Hi,

Thanks for trying out the service. I only validated ports 1024 through
49151 (the so-called range of 'registered ports'). I believe it's
recommended to only use those and not the 'well-known ports' in the range
from 0 through 1023 as those can be reserved for current or future TCP/UDP
services. Some info here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TCP_and_UDP_port_numbers.
