ODK Collect Case Study & Question about Output-based Aid

Xin Ciao!

Hi, Group! First post here.

I recently spent some time in Vietnam where we prototyped field
verification using ODK Collect and a home-grown profile viewing experience
so that those filling out the verification form could look at the
information they were verifying before filling out that verification form.
Read all about the problem on this write
up: http://www.hidef.co/2013/03/19/using-technology-to-verify-outputs-in-international-development/

The key question that arose for us while we were there is: How many other
organizations are using ODK to not only collect data in the field but also
to try and verify data already collected
in the field? To put it plainly:
ODK Collect is great for gathering new data, but we don't see a ready-to-go
use case for verifying pre-collected data.

Has anyone else dealt with this use case? How did you solve for it? For us,
we're creating a very lightweight Android app that locally stores data to
be verified, and having the field staff use both apps when they go to the
field (one to look at previously-entered data, one to complete a
verification form in which they collect a final picture, geolocation, etc).

The ODK 2.0 suite of tools, ODK Tables and ODK Survey, are intended to
address the field-update-of-existing-data use cases.

Until those are available, you will need a helper app like you describe.
