Thanks

Here are some things to try...

Open the browser on your phone and make sure it can connect to the
internet (try [http://www.google.com/news](http://www.google.com/news)). Does that work?

Next, what ODK server are you trying to connect to? If you type the
url (try [http://opendatakit.appspot.com](http://opendatakit.appspot.com)) in the browser, does that
work?

I also have the same problem, everything OK if using [http://opendatakit.appspot.com](http://opendatakit.appspot.com) but if I use my own appspot the same error message occured.

I believe there is something in the configuration of GAE instance need to be fixed... any idea?

I added additional instructions on [http://opendatakit.org/use/aggregate/](http://opendatakit.org/use/aggregate/) --
see the "Using the Application" section.

You most likely have not defined an ODK username and configured ODK Collect
to use it.

Still can't download the Form and the message 'The target server failed to respond', the forms are there but I can't download it. My appspot URL is [https://aqtartirafi.appspot.com](https://aqtartirafi.appspot.com).

Where can I find the ODK username? I didn't configure ODK Aggregate to use any, still using the defaults from the installer.

Thanks.

Riki,

You are using a very old version (v0.9.2.1) of Aggregate. Read
[http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AggregateMigration](http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AggregateMigration) and then
upgrade to the latest version (v1.0.6) at
[http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/downloads/list](http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/downloads/list). It may even be
easier just to create a new app engine instance and leave the old one
be.

Yes I have just figure that out just now, already installed the new version on my laptop (os: win 7 pro 64-bit). The installer failed to create the Start Menu maybe because I'm using 64-bit windows (different location for program files). But I igonred it and manage to find uploadAggregateToAppEngine.hta and execute it manually. The next problem is when uploaded to appspot I receive this message:

'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
---- WEBSITE COMPLETE - BEGIN BACKEND ----
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
---END-SCRIPT-SUCCESS---

I've installed Java obviously and able to call java from the command prompt (that is how I manage to install the old version). Already make sure that I've entered the email and password of my googole apps account correctly.

Any idea why this happen? Is it because my x64 environment? Maybe there is another way on doing this, maybe using command prompt instead of the GUI installer? But please don't tell me that I have to rebuild from source 🙂

Thanks for the fast response guys, really appreciate it.

I develop on Windows 7 Professional x64, so that isn't itself a problem.

The installer does not add anything to your Start menu or do anything other
than extract and configure the files in the install directory you specify.
As its last step, it launches an upload script to upload the files to
Google AppEngine.

It appears that your Java installation is somehow not quite right. First,
if you're a developer, you may have a JAVA\_HOME pointing to an old
directory or a Path element that points to an old or missing java install.
If that is not the case, I recommend uninstalling whatever Java you have,
making sure that you have no 32-bit or 64-bit java remaining in your
Program Files or Program Files (x86) directories, then installing the
latest Java JRE (either 7 or 6 - either will work) using the Windows
installer available from here:
[http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html](http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html) Use the
installer, rather than copying and unzipping the binaries to ensure that
proper configuration properties are set in the registry so that Java can be
found.

Then re-run the installer (just to ensure nothing broke internally the
first time). On the final screen, choose to launch the script, which will
fire off the .hta script.

Hopefully that will then work. The upload script uses a copy of the Google
App Engine SDK which depends upon Java and it is apparently having trouble
locating java, and that is causing the errors you're seeing.
