Sooo... that's my question what is "Maps" function in Collect? and is that easy to comment out?

Bob,

Don't think so. To use Maps, you do need to get a token that maps to
the signing key.

Mitch,

Is there a work around for ..."registration of a Google Maps API
authorization token linked to that signing key."?

What would need to be commented out to disconnect Google Maps from ODK
Collect AND what functionality would be given up?

My developer guy says that setting up the Google Maps environment is a
hurdle for him.

Thanks!

Bob

You don't have to set up a Maps Engine or other environment. This is just
for execution.

The key is needed for the widgets that display geopoints on a map. There
are two of those.

If you don't have the key and access grants set up correctly, nothing
breaks (everything should still start up fine), but when you try to use
those widgets in your forms (when collecting geopoints), the map tiles will
not display.

What Android API level is ODK Collect written to?

Thanks!
Bob

See the AndroidManifest.xml in whatever version of the source you have.
