[ODK Community] Typo in submission url -- best way to address?

Audrey,

Use ODK Briefcase (http://opendatakit.org/use/briefcase) to pull the
data from the phones to a computer.

Hello,

We unfortunately realized that there was a typo in our submission url, so
ODK crashes each time we try to send the finalized forms to the appspot. I
understand how to update and download new forms on the devices. However, we
have several surveys that we've already conducted on each device. Is there
any way to push the data from these forms through bluetooth or usb to a
computer? Or to update the submission url on an existing form? We want to be
sure we don't lose this data. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks so much,
Audrey

Audrey,

ODK Briefcase works fine. It just requires an extra step:

  1. Connect the device with USB to your computer
  2. Manually copy the ODK directory from the phone to your computer. If
1 are on a Mac, you will need http://www.android.com/filetransfer/.
  3. Run ODK Briefcase and select 'Custom Path to ODK Directory' on the
Pull tab. Choose the directory where you copied the files.

Hi Yaw,

Thank you for the email. My understanding is that ODK briefcase can only be
used to pull forms from the SD card on a device. Is this correct? We are
using Google Nexuses, which unfortunately do not have an SD card. Do you
know of any other way to pull this data onto a computer?

Thanks so much for your help.

Best,
Audrey

Audrey,

For each form, Briefcase should pull all instances from the device to
your computer. Then you should be able to export all instances as a
CSV with each instance represented as a row. So if you've filled out
ten copies of Form A, when you pull, those ten copies should be copied
to your computer. And when you export, there should be one CSV with
ten rows.

Try looking in your ODK storage folder on your computer. The path is
at the top of the ODK Briefcase UI. In that folder, there will be
forms/$FORM-NAME/instances. If you have just one folder inside
instances, then Briefcase has only pulled one instance, so something
is wrong with the pull. If you see multiple folders, then the pull
worked, something is broken with the export.

Hi Yaw,

I appreciate the help here. I am having difficulty, however,
pulling/pushing/exporting multiple instances of the same form at a time. I
only see the name of the form available in the dropdown menu, and have found
that when I export, only one line of data appears (i.e. just for the first
instance). Is it possible to pull and export multiple instances at once and
if so, what step am I missing in order to be able to do this?

Thanks so much,
Audrey
