[ODK Developers] ODK Sensors

What fingerprint scanner did you use? Any information you can share
about how well it has worked?

Did anyone get it to work?

We have developed apps to support bluetooth based barcode and fingerprint scanner with ODK Collect and we're really interested in checking out what this sensors framework offer.

And have you integrated the scanners directly with ODK? If so, can you
share how (or the source)?

We have used BlueFin (bluetooth) and Futronic FS-88 (USB) fingerprint scanners. We use these scanners to scan the fingerprints as images to Android devices and then transfer them to a centralized server using network (wireless/cell) for further processing. Both have worked well, although with BlueFin we have had occasional connection glitches, which I believe is typical to any BT device. Overall, both have worked well.

Hi,

Could a few more pointers be shared about the finger print scanner and how
it has been linked to the Xform?

As far as I know, there is no way in ODK to ascertain that the data is
being collected in an authentic manner and this troubles me a lot. The
standalone app built for the Futronic FS-88 (USB) fingerprint scanner
and called from within the Xform, could be used to serve the purpose.

Hoping to get a response.

Cheers,
Karan

Hi,

We are working on ODK sensors with ODK Collect and Aggregate, have few
questions let us know if we can talk.

Hi,
If you haven't already done so, please look at these 2 email threads about
ODK Sensors and sensor drivers. There's a link to some sample code in the
emails that shows you how to implement drivers.

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/opendatakit-developers/e7SXADW9zUE

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/opendatakit-developers/tMuR2j9zdp8

Then we can talk about specific questions you might have.
