ODK form Vanishing

Hi Team,

I'm having problem with my ODK App on my device. The forms tend to vanish
from get blank form option. How do I stop it from vanishing, Please can
anyone help me out?

Hi Salisu,

In ODK Aggregate, the only forms that will appear there are forms
marked 'Downloadable' on the server. What server and version are you
using to download the forms?

We are using google server for the download. But the real issue is not
about download, the downloaded forms tend to disappear without being
deleted. I hope you understand now.

(1) Did this occur while these devices were upgraded from Android 4.1 to
Android 4.2? (or any other Android update) There is a known issue with
file/data loss when upgrading from the 4.1 to 4.2 Android versions. The
external storage directory changed between these two operating system
releases, which causes ODK Collect to reference a file path that no longer
exists on the newer operating system; not finding the file in that old
location, ODK Collect removes it from the set of forms it knows about.

(2) Are you using the multi-user sign-in feature of the newer Android 4.x
systems? Where you can have different user profiles sharing the same
device? This has not been rigorously tested with the ODK tools and might
also cause strange effects such as you describe.

The devices are already on Android 4.2.2. We use one form hub for all the
devices we use to get forms and data submissions. Approximately, we have
over 500 phones using ODK App.

Hi Salisu,

Does this happen with one device or multiple devices? Does this happen
with one form type or all forms? Is the form disappearance
intermittent or can you replicate it easily?

Hello Yaw,

It happens with some devices and all the forms vanishes. This happens
periodically.

The disappearance happens intermittently. New forms can be easily
downloaded from a form-hub server.

Salisu,

You'll have to do some investigation to figure out what is different
on the devices it happens on and the devices it doesn't.

Do they have the same Android OS and build, type of SD card, installed
applications, etc? Do the enumerators use them in a different way?

Also, if you have access to those devices, take a look at the
/sdcard/odk/forms folder. Are the forms there, but renamed to
form.xml.bad or something similar?
