ODK Project in data collection

Hi
I am starting on ODK to build an application for field agents.
Agents will have a questionnaire and get it filled from the customers.
This application should be able to store the geolocation of the
survey, photo of the customer being interviewd and other details .
The app should be able to work in both online and offline mode.
So the very first thing is the android device.
What android device should be used?Should it be a tablet or phone?
Also there is certain limitation like the user will not be able to charge
the battery during the whole day out in field.
Please suggest me some good hardware(also the cheapest) here.
Thanks

Deepak,

In general, the cheaper the device, the worse battery life and device
quality. Regardless, if you want others to recommend devices, you'll
need to tell us where you are -- not all Android devices are
available everywhere.

For phone vs. tablet,

is a recent thread on the topic.

We have used a number of devices in the field, the cheapest was the Huwei
Ideos, which cost $150 and we didn't have any trouble.
We have also used HTC MyTouch 3Gs, and have had very good results. They are
more expensive, but these days pretty cheap. We used these intensively,
using ODK for a solid five hours a day on one battery charge. It helps to
be in airplane mode, though you need GPS.
Given a choice, I would choose a more advanced model to have enough
computing power to run some security/encryption apps, though on it's own,
ODK is not very demanding.

Thanks Neil.
Ideos seems to be a good choice.
