If there's some time and y'all are up for it, some discussion around configuring clients from servers would be much appreciated. This would be exploring alternatives to the rejected matchExactly proposal. I've had to put this on the back burner but plan to devote some time to it over the next couple of weeks. It would be good to get some feedback on:
- What client configuration options exist in the ecosystem. e.g. I'm pretty sure I've seen a side drawer in Enketo with some options but I can't seem to get to it anymore.
- Given the information above and some of the discussion in the prior thread, how important is it for servers to provide settings that are standard across clients?
- Given that server URI and credentials can currently be set when offline in Collect, when should the settings exchange happen? e.g. should we consider client polling or server pushing?
I'll try to get a more concrete proposal or two and some guiding questions together during my day tomorrow.
