[ODKAggregate] Can I use a RDBMS?

Hello,

I want to use ODKAggregate locally and would like to use a RDBMS
instead of the Google datastorage, Is it possible?
Would it be enough just to write a new .DatastoreService and
datastore.DatastoreServiceFactory ?
Maybe someone has tried it and knows how to do it maybe in a similar
way.

best,

Norman

Hi Norman,

The ODK team's next Aggregate release supports MySQL or Postgres as a
backend database. We even have a Windows installer that sets it up to run
within a Tomcat web server. It is working now; we are reviewing how our
current and future services (Aggregate, Form Manager, Follow-up and Task
Management and Phone Configuration Management) should fit together and how
authorization and authentication will be supported before we push through
this release.

Hello Mitchell,

Thank you very much for your fast response.
Do you maybe know when this release will be?
Maybe there is a work around for rdbms.
Thanks again,

Norman

Any word on when this RDBMS release will be out? We have an urgent
need for this ODK type tool at our university. Rather than modify the
Google App Engine version to work on Tomcat/MySQL we would much rather
use any official release from the ODK team. Even if it is not fully
ready, we'd appreciate if we can get access to some beta version.

Any feedback on the Aggregate release that supports a backend
database ?

Hi Max,

Aggregate 1.0 (with MySQL and Postgres support) is our high priority item.
I'm aiming for code complete by the end of September for the base Aggregate
1.0 service.

Aggregate 1.0 will have authentication and authorization services for its
web pages and its ODK Collect interactions, but that functionality is
unlikely to be generally available until late October.
