Problem loading ODK Aggregate page

Hi all,
After successfully testing ODK Aggregate, I am now encountering a server
problem, using the same version of ODK (1.2) and the same form(s). When I
try to login to my naxosarch.appspot.com instance, the server goes into a
loop, starting here:
https://naxosarch.appspot.com/Aggregate.html

and then trying to load this:
https://naxosarch.appspot.com/Aggregate.html#submissions/filter///

Neither fully loads, and it just cycles between them, giving me no ability
to act at all. Trying to upload forms from a tablet also produces an error.

I'm at a bit of a loss. Has anyone experienced this, and/or have any
suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

Invite me as a developer (
http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AppEngineTroubleshooting ) and I
can fix this issue.

Note that version 1.2 is very old. You should consider upgrading (upgrading
won't fix this issue).

See http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/wiki/AggregateReleaseNotes for
upgrade steps.

Note that with recent changes in BigTables storage, you may begin to see
failures during the publishing or retrieving of data.

Great - thanks for your quick reply. I've invited you as a developer. Is
this problem the result of a mistake on my part, and something that I can
avoid in future? Or simply an inevitable glitch?

Thanks,

Hi Dan,

It should be working again.

The problem was with the MOPE_v1 form definition.

The database ended up with two entries for it when there should only be one
entry. This is a known issue. An initial fix was done in 1.2, and further
fixes have been done in the 1.3.x release. However, the problem still
occurs from time to time.

The earlier issues were due to rapidly clicking the Add-form button,
causing two uploads to be processed within 1-2 seconds of each other. We
seem to have fixed that issue.

The newest issues seem to be related to the 15-minute grace period for
changed forms. In your case, you uploaded the form once at 11:11:06, and
again at 11:12:17 (70 seconds later). For some reason, the second upload
did not detect and update the record at 11:11:06, but instead created a
second record.

The low frequency of this issue (~1 every 3 weeks) and the fact that it
occurs during revisions to the forms, and not during data upload, has
placed in on the 'nice to fix' list -- we are not actively investigating it.

Great; many thanks for both the fix and the explanation. Seems like a
reasonably avoidable problem - it arose to begin with from trying to make
iterative improvements to the form. I thought that I had been consistently
deleting previous instances, but will be more careful about that in future,
and perhaps allow a certain lag between uploads.

Much appreciated,

Dan

Hi Trisha,

That link has moved to
https://github.com/opendatakit/opendatakit/wiki/Aggregate-AppEngine-Troubleshooting.

The infinite refresh could be any number of issues, so it might be
best to post a new message with exactly what versions of Aggregate you
are using, on what platform (e.g., Tomcat, App Engine) and what has
changed since this problem started (e.g. have you upgraded).

Thanks,

Yaw

Hi Trisha,

That link has moved to
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__github.com_opendatakit_opendatakit_wiki_Aggregate-2DAppEngine-2DTroubleshooting&d=DwIBaQ&c=0u3nQZwm2He4OdaqbWh55g&r=esqndH_etIHpQ7iw90NwIgzhly0Tl3auqWD0XPDO0sE&m=eGP4tixqcFJGRcCsskx5qtLjiyZjHv7_nxDMQdP07PE&s=-m6CFsOVxCFHn4orLknfyyIxryWJpfsjXdKXa1XVqpc&e= .

The infinite refresh could be any number of issues, so it might be best to post a new message with exactly what versions of Aggregate you are using, on what platform (e.g., Tomcat, App Engine) and what has changed since this problem started (e.g. have you upgraded).

Thanks,

Yaw

Hi Dan,

It should be working again.

The problem was with the MOPE_v1 form definition.

The database ended up with two entries for it when there should
only be one entry. This is a known issue. An initial fix was done
in 1.2, and further fixes have been done in the 1.3.x release.
However, the problem still occurs from time to time.

The earlier issues were due to rapidly clicking the Add-form
button, causing two uploads to be processed within 1-2 seconds of
each other. We seem to have fixed that issue.

The newest issues seem to be related to the 15-minute grace period
for changed forms. In your case, you uploaded the form once at
11:11:06, and again at 11:12:17 (70 seconds later). For some
reason, the second upload did not detect and update the record at
11:11:06, but instead created a second record.

The low frequency of this issue (~1 every 3 weeks) and the fact
that it occurs during revisions to the forms, and not during data
upload, has placed in on the 'nice to fix' list -- we are not actively investigating it.

Note that version 1.2 is very old. You should consider upgrading
(upgrading won't fix this issue).

See
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__code.google.com_p_opendatakit_wiki_AggregateReleaseNotes&d=DwIBaQ&c=0u3nQZwm2He4OdaqbWh55g&r=esqndH_etIHpQ7iw90NwIgzhly0Tl3auqWD0XPDO0sE&m=eGP4tixqcFJGRcCsskx5qtLjiyZjHv7_nxDMQdP07PE&s=inscihFPJ-U5ZG7tBVQk6YgLKebEdW2dbyB2QA2_63Y&e= for upgrade steps.

Note that with recent changes in BigTables storage, you may begin
to see failures during the publishing or retrieving of data.

Hi all,
After successfully testing ODK Aggregate, I am now encountering a
server problem, using the same version of ODK (1.2) and the same form(s).
When I try to login to my naxosarch.appspot.com instance, the
server goes into a loop, starting here:

https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__naxosarch.app

ZjHv7_nxDMQdP07PE&s=6USOoHjz9yJD8Q1_d_6kMoDVG3cIyXHwq5Dwmy0XctA&e=

and then trying to load this:
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__naxosarch.app
spot.com_Aggregate.html-23submissions_filter___&d=DwIBaQ&c=0u3nQZw

P4tixqcFJGRcCsskx5qtLjiyZjHv7_nxDMQdP07PE&s=fN9IZHphyTDPwITRV60557
cNJOIEotpC_zi66aysDMQ&e=

Neither fully loads, and it just cycles between them, giving me no
ability to act at all. Trying to upload forms from a tablet also
produces an error.

I'm at a bit of a loss. Has anyone experienced this, and/or have
any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan
