Protecting data from CSV

I'm writing a form which preloads data from a CSV. That data comes from
previous answers in the same household (or maybe not, if it is the first
visit).

My question is, ¿how can i protect the CSV data from prying eyes? I know i
can enable the device encryption, but i want to protect the CSV data from
the surveyors and anyone who has or who could get the device password...

Presumably you could use the App Lock tool to restrict what is installed on
the device -- see the earlier thread:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/opendatakit/1cnrRzteBfI

i.e., prevent downloads of file browsers and editors or viewers or office
apps. The only way to access the CSV would then be to connect the device to
a laptop and pull the files over to the laptop.

And then you can hopefully use multi-user profiles to have the surveyors
operate without the ability to approve usb connection to, e.g., a laptop
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/07/24/android-4-3-feature-focus-multi-user-with-restricted-profiles/

I have not tried that, so I don't know if you can create a user profile
that is unable to approve a connection to your laptop.

The combination should rather effectively lock down your device -- you
would need to log in as the privileged user to alter the AppLock settings,
and/or connect to a laptop.

Hans,

You asked the same question a few weeks back. Did you try the
solutions outlined at
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/opendatakit/9lHnz_0rTv8/N8FDpuF-nXEJ ?

It'd be good to know if they did or didn't work.
