or how can i make an image appear based on a selection?
There isn't a way to do this.
The images configured as part of the form definition are separate from
those captured during data collection.
You can specify one of those images to display as a portion of a question
label, but you can't dynamically choose that image.
You might be able to hack this using a read-only select prompt with a
choice list of images, where the filter condition on the choice list
selects the image you want, so that the list of choices is just that one
image.
Then put that in a field-list group along with the question you actually
want to ask.
