Purcforms Layout XML to ODK Collect or ODK Survey

I am developing my first small survey to be implemented on Android tablets
using ODK. My surveys have two very specific format/layout requirements.

  1. I need to be able to place radio buttons next to images to use as answer
options in a single or multiple select question. For instance, to have a
respondent select the American flag from a set of three flags.

  2. I need to exercise control over the placement of responses in a
single/multiple select question beyond the capabilities I've found in ODK
Build, KoBo Toolbox and other form design tools. Imagine I have four
response options and I want to place them in strange positions on the
    screen (in the corners, etc).

To resolve #2, I started to use Purcforms, which allows fine control over
the placement of every widget and button. This is great. But I run into a
problem trying to get the layout specifics into ODK Collect. When I export
the xforms xml file, it doesn't contain layout information. That is all
contained in the Layout XML file in Purcforms. So, when I open up the form
contained in the xforms xml, the survey works but without any unique
formatting.

My question is: is it possible to extract the layout details from Purcforms
into ODK Collect? What about into ODK Survey? Or is there an alternative
tool that I can use to satisfy #1 and #2 above? I am happy to try anything
at this point.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

If you are looking for total flexibility in the placement of your prompts,
you will probably want to take a look at the gridScreen example. You can
find this example in the zip file at

under the tables directory. This allows you to define the layout of a
screen using a handlebars template that can be rendered within Survey.
