Respondent does not qualify

Good day house!

I am trying to design a form where after answering a particular screening
question and the respondent does not qualify, he or she wont be able to go
further, meaning the interview will be closed.

I tried introducing a text question and controlling it with the response
given in the previous question using relevance and also made it compulsory
using required, but once a letter is written in the text box it allows the
respondent go to the next question whether he or she qualifies or not. I am
a little new here so can someone help me to tackle this better.

Thanks for helping out.

Hi,

It is difficult to respond confidently without a specific example, but it
sounds like what you are attempting should be possible.Your approach also
seems to make sense: making subsequent questions irrelevant based on a
required question's response is how this normally works.

It is likely you can get a more detailed response here if you provide more
specific information:

  • The simplest form design demonstrating what you are having trouble with
  • The version of ODK Collect you are using

Regards,

Brent

The approach of starting with a qualifying question is the correct
one. The trick is to then wrap all the remaining questions with an
unlabelled group and make that group relevant when qualified. I've
attached a quick (and untested) example.
