Should renaming come before the website launch?

@martijnr Thanks for your thoughtful feedback.

I agree with you that there should be some sort of ecosystem page. It was not a deliberate omission! @downey has been thinking about some neutral language. Do you think a paragraph (similar to what you have at https://enketo.org/about/#enketo-ecosystem) would be a good start? We could point to the XForms specification, the various APIs, and links to a few compatible tools. We might want to punt on that last bit if it's going to require some hard decisions (e.g., what makes a tool "listable").

As to the ODK1/2, the reality of the transition is that there are strong opinions about priorities and sequencing and it's not always easy to find consensus. And it's not like any of us have deep experience doing this kind of transition.

The PMC reached consensus that website should be the priority. Perhaps the naming of ODK 1 and ODK 2 should have come first, but what is done is done. Furthermore, it's been hard to build momentum around the website and now that we have that momentum, I don't think we should disrupt it.

I do think we should all have a community discussion about if keeping the suites together makes sense and if so, what they should be called. Until we can hash out all the different arguments, I think we should try to get to a website that treats both suites as fairly as possible. The good news is that if the community decides that the suites should be separated, then that's an easy change to make.

You can find what horses the PMC is flogging at Project Management Committee (PMC) meeting notes and follow the transition status/progress at Transition status. Can you take a quick look and make sure we aren't heading down other paths you disagree with? If we are, let's start a new topic to discuss!
