Signature Question Type

1. What is the issue? Please be detailed.

As I understand the signature field always rotate to landscape mode, also if I locked the roation function at the device to portrait mode. It open a window with only a + button and a black line.

The problem is, if I give the form to Course participants who are supposed to fill out the form themselves, it was for some of them a little bit confused if the screen rotate and they donot know where to sign (above or below the line) and after it, how to save it to go forword to the next question.

My question is,

  1. it is possible that the screen do not rotate to landscape to display it on the device (I know, than it will be not so much place to sign it)?

Or alternatively

  1. Is it possible to place a Note text under the line, to explain what the user has to do, like “Please sign above the line and press the + button to complete.” or something else.

Thanks

Hi @Maggi

No, it’s not possible at the moment, but this may change soon, as Android will require us to adopt a different approach starting with version 16.

It’s not possible with the signature appearance, but you can use the annotate one and apply a default signature placeholder. Here is a sample form. Please give it a try and let us know if it helps in your case:

Hi Grzesiek2010,
Thank you for your suggestion to solve the problem. I tried it, but unfortunately it's not the solution for me. When I create the question as suggested, the “Capture signature” button no longer appears as before, but instead I see the “Create photo,” “Select photo,” and “Edit drawing” buttons. I think this confuses participants even more than before... and the “note” text is also at the sign picture visible, that I export as pdf (printer widget).
But thanks for your effort.
I placed the note text now as a “hint” before the question will be answered….it is not perfect but will help.

Yeah, that might be the best and easiest solution for you. The annotate appearance works in a different way than the signature one, so I understand that it might be confusing.
