Single read gps data from bluetooth gps dongle with ODK Sensors framework

Hi,
We are trying to collect some general data about the soil in specific locations that are provided to us. As our researchers indicated that buildin GPS sensor can not be used as an option. We are hoping to get a single read from the Bluetooth dongle for each location.
I have already created a XForm and uploaded to ODK Aggregate.
I know that partially a code has to be written, where do I write it and how?

Regards,
Melissa

Melissa,

It's not clear to me that code has to be written. First, make sure the
bluetooth GPS can pair with your phone. Then use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=googoo.android.btgps&hl=en
(or something similar). Then when you go to record location, I believe
it will grab it from the Bluetooth GPS.

Hi Melissa,
When you say: "I have found one that works for my cause." What is it exactly?
Thanks!

Hi Yaw,
I have disabled location services of the phone through settings.
Then I connected to Bluetooth device, even if the application (
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=googoo.android.btgps&hl=en )
was able to retrieve data, ODK gave an error claiming location services are
disabled.
Regards,
Melissa

How are you able to confirm that it is grabbing the GPS from the external device and not the internal one?

Pretty sure you need location services on for any location services to
work. Try turning it back on and see if something like

works with Bluetooth.
