Trouble retrieving data

Greetings Community,

In our survey, 5 questions were asked for each member that was employed in
the household, and this repeating group of questions was only skipped if
the respondent entered 0 for total persons employed. Otherwise, the
enumerator could ask this group of questions for as many people that were
employed.

This issue we are having now is that in the cells in excel that should have
this specific information, I am referred to the appspot.com website to get
it. We have approximately 4000 observations and this would be terribly time
consuming to go back for each household and copy this information off the
web. Is there a way around this/ a more efficient means in obtaining this
data? Thank you for your help in advance

Sincerely,
Adam

Adam,

You'll want to use ODK Briefcase to download and export your data. It will
export separate .csv files for any repeat groups.

Best,

Chris

Hello Chris,

Thank you for the prompt response. I downloaded briefcase, but my Mac won't
run it (unidentified developer). I tried using terminal to run the jar
file, but I am getting this:
Error: Unable to access jarfile path_to_jar. What should I do?

Thanks,
Adam

Greetings,

I am able to open briefcase on a school computer, but am having trouble
actually using it. I don't really understand the information on the actual
ODK website- can you maybe give me a brief summary of how I use it to get
the information off the aggregate website? No matter which URL I use, I get
an error message of "Unable to fetch formList," or something along these
lines. Thank you

Sincerely,
Adam

In server connetion make sure you give correct URL, USERNAME, PASSWORD.

URL will look something similar to this:

http://YOUR LOCAL IP ADDRESS HERE:8080/ODKAggregate/

Good Luck,
Ayub

Hi Adam,

Click Connect, put in the URL you use to access your server (like "
https://yourname.appspot.com"), your username, and your password. Hopefully
it will Connect okay and list the forms on your server. Then, check off
forms to pull down to your local computer. After that, switch over to the
Export tab to export those pulled forms to .csv files.

Best,

Chris
