Unable to verify the first certificate - Error

I did set up ODK central v1.5.3 with a custom certificate and able to launch web interface except that I meet the error unable to verify the first certificate whenever I try to preview an XLS form. What could be the cause for this.

Central v1.5.3 is also pretty old. Consider upgrading to the latest (currently Central v2023.2.1).
