Using an external bluetooth GPS device

Hi

Question abou the ODK and if it will be able to see and work with an
external bluetooth device linked to a mobile phone - as am just about
to buy one and wondering if it will work OK.

The reason is the Motorola Defy+ we are testing at the moment in
Guyana is having dificulty and taking a time getting an accurate GPS
location so we are looking at ways to help with this using a device
such as this
http://www.holux-uk.co.uk/holux-m-241-bluetooth-gps-logger.php?it=220&ca=54&p=1&so=0
Just wondering if anyone has used a external GPS like this and if the
ODK collect can talk to it OK.

Thanks

That capability is not currently in stock ODK, but will be soon! We
are hoping for a pre-release of an ODK generic sensor package
(including both Bluetooth and USB connected devices) by early next
year.

jon,

while we don't have generic sensor support yet, bluetooth gpses do
work with the existing builds of collect. see
https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!searchin/opendatakit/bluetooth$20gps
for the relevant discussion of devices that work well.

also, please don't send the same question to both lists.
