Video Format Support on ODK Collect

1. What is the problem? Be very detailed.
I am getting .3gp videos from the ODK Collect app on Tecno Camon 11 phones running Android 8.1.0

When I use the Tecno Camon 11 Stock Camera App to record a video I am getting a .mp4 video.

When I deploy the same form to some other phone types I get .mp4 from ODK Collect which is my desired format.

2. What app or server are you using and on what device and operating system? Include version numbers.
ODK Collect version 1.23.3

The ODK App has permission to use the camera on the Tecno.

Hi @uwanja
if you are using a device camera It can return videos in different formats it's not a problem with ODK Collect. You can try changing settings in that camera app maybe it allows to specify video formats.
You can also try to download another camera app from the store.

Hi @Grzesiek2010 indeed it was the stock camera App. I have downloaded another Camera App and everything is fine now. Thanks.

@Grzesiek2010 Is there a camera app that you think we should recommend in the docs?

I have no idea I have always used the default one. But... is there any format that we should recommend?
