When can ODK support location hierarchy?

Hi ODK developer,

When can ODK support location hierarchy as in PoiMapper? I am looking
forward to seeing this feature soon. Thanks.

Best regards,
Chan Choth

Can you open an issue here: http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/issues/list

And provide more information and links to examples of what you mean?

I am not familiar with PoiMapper and its capabilities.

By "location hierarchy", did you mean cascading selects?

If so, it's not yet supported by ODK but the KoBo
variant/forkhttp://www.kobotoolbox.org/updates/2011/10/itemsets-cascading-selection-now-available
does.
It is an outstanding issue:

Hi,

Yes, I did mean that and it can link from one form to other form i.e I
can link the location hierarchy to my questionnaire.

If it is an outstanding issue, when can we expect to have this
feature? Thanks.

I am still confused by the question but I will try to answer.

I am picking up on two separate things

  1. Cascading Select
  2. Linking between two or more forms.

Here are my answers to the two things I think I hear you asking about.

  1. We are hoping to address Cascading selects in the July release of
Collect. However, the issue holding back Cascading selects is not ODK,
it is JavaRosa code. ODK uses JavaRosa to maintain compatibility with
other with many other projects. We are pushing the JavaRosa community
right now to add the cascading selects to the main branch.
  2. Linking between two or more forms will become possible (limited
functionality exists already if you write custom code) and will be a
lot easier with a new revision of ODK tools we are working on this
summer. I would guess estimate that in early Fall this feature will
be built into the tool revision.
