Hi there
Apologies in advance if I haven't got my terminology down pat, but hope my
explanation makes sense.
I'm hoping there's a solution for this:
My first "select one" question offers a bunch of options which governs the
options in the 2nd "select one" question. Therefore:
Question 1: (writes to 'Class' container in my form)
Select one from: A, B, C, D
Depending on selection in Q1, Question 2 will appears as:
Select one from - a1, a2, a3, a4
Select one from - b1, b2, b3, b4
etc
Regardless of the choice from Q1, I want my Q2 answer to go into one
singular 'Subclass' container in my form, but its not letting me do that.
I'm forced to create separate containers for A, B, C etc to hold the
'subclass' value.
This can't be right. Surely I'm missing something here?
Thanks in advance
Dustin
Dustin,
There should be two Question 2 prompts. One that is relevant for A,
another that is relevant for B. There is no easy way to have both
branches store the data in one generic Question 2 prompt. A popular
alternative is to use itemsets in Kobo Collect which, with some
tradeoffs, can do what you are describing...

solutions, read over

Hi Yaw
You are right. I do have separate question prompts for A & B but want the answers to live in the same container.
Will look at.the alternative you've suggested...
Thanks
