Xformbuild from ODK Build roundtrip

I prefer using ODK build (http://build.opendatakit.org/) to design my
xform. And, I sometimes need to make minor changes to the xml after I
finish with ODK build.

I would like to upload an XML version of the form to ODKbuild so I can
round-trip it from text editor to ODK Build. Currently the only option is
odkbuild binary file for upload.

Is there some way to compile the xml to odkbuild? I don't see a feature
request or previous post, but perhaps I missed it. If its a few java
commands perhaps its doable manually outside of build, or perhaps could be
included in the validator.jar ?

Hi James:

Unfortunately, ODK Build does not support importing XML xforms. XForms are simply too dereferenced and abstract for me to consistently be able to transform an XForm back into something that makes sense in a drag and drop editor.

May I ask what changes you're needing to make afterwards? Maybe the real problem here is that I'm not providing some basic feature that you need.

Thanks,
Clint

Got it. Its actually not much at all...

I would like to be able to create a hidden field that gets the "start
datetime" and binds it but doesn't display it:

Is that supported in some way I don't know about?

No, but that's a good request. I'll see about adding it in at some point soon here.

Thanks,
Clint
