Build Form From Multiple XML

I am working on building an app for data collection in alaskan
wilderness. In order to constrain some of the data collected I am
trying to have a few select from list boxes. However this would update
periodically as the need be. My question is... is it possible to build
a form and have a drop down list built from a seperate xml file
located on the sd card?

I am just starting and learning odk. I have looked at odk build
however any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

this a feature we are working on, but no eta on when it will be
available. follow the progress of the feature at
http://code.google.com/p/opendatakit/issues/detail?id=411.

if this is an urgent request that others want, we do accept and
appreciate from external developers.

Derek,

First, Alaska is fantastic, I lived in Girdwood for a while. I suppose you
are getting cold about now, just hold on, spring is only 8 months away.

For your "select from list" problem, we might have a partial solution for
you. KoBoCollect (an implementation of ODK Collect) has support from
itemsets so that you can use cascading selections, a series of questions
where the first answer constrains selections in a subsequent question.
KoBoForm allows you to import your lists of options from a CSV. It will not
automatically update from a file on your SDcard, though that's a function
we would all like to see.

I don't know if this partial solution will help you, but you are welcome to
give it a try. I would like to hear more about your project, what you are
trying to do, and if this will help you.

Here is a page from the Userguide describing how cascading selections work:
http://www.kobotoolbox.org/userguide/koboform/cascadingselect

Here is a link to the online version of the formbuilder:
http://www.kobotoolbox.org/koboform/
(You can download it to use offline as well in the event that your moose
powered internet generator runs out of moose kibble.)
The formbuilder will simplify the process of creating your survey form,
with itemsets.

Please let me know if that is some help.
